New Modules Enabled
Balanced AES and Provide Expanded Data Capacity
WORCESTER, Mass.
— April 20, 2009 — At the 2009 NAB Show, Telecast Fiber Systems
will unveil a new set of modules for its Adder™ II modular audio,
intercom, and data multiplexing system. The new modules will give customers
broader connection flexibility and greater capacity for managing large
quantities of audio and data in a large-scale audio transport application.
The new Adder II modules include strips
for balanced AES via XLR connections. These balanced AES strips come
in 16-channel TX and RX or an 8x8 transceiver to service customers who
prefer balanced AES signals on XLRs. The new data strips provide an
additional eight or 16 RS-232 or RS-422 paths on DB-9 connectors.
Featuring a modular and scalable design,
the Adder II offers up to 64 channels of bi-directional audio, four
intercom module slots for up to eight intercom circuits, and expanded
data and GPI capabilities. The system offers outstanding signal-to-noise
ratios with mic gain and phantom power control, and industry-leading
latency specs. The Adder II consists of 1RU strips that interface to
a common backplane to enable broadcasters to assemble the exact configuration
for their needs.
“The Adder II is an audio workhorse,
and the new modules make it that much more versatile for today’s demanding
audio environments,” said Richard Cerny, president, Telecast Fiber
Systems. “Analog and AES transmission and receive frames can be combined
with intercom and data frames to create an audio system that is perfectly
suited to a particular application. The Adder II offers maximum flexibility,
whether you need 64x64 analog audio or 32 analog to 16 AES signals in
one direction, with or without intercoms and data.”
Also, the Baker Box has been revamped
to include better faceplate indicators and mic gain controls for each
of the two analog audio inputs. The Baker Box is a CAT-5 based product
that allows two analog mic sources per location to be converted to AES.
Boxes are powered through the same CAT-5 cable. These are ideally suited
for outside broadcasts such as golf and racing or in sports facilities.
Up to four Baker Boxes can be daisy-chained or “starred” together
to accommodate a wide range of signal acquisition topographies.
Both the new Adder strips and the new
Baker box are currently shipping.
