WORCESTER, Mass. — Oct. 1, 2009 — Telecast Fiber Systems today announced that its newly launched products brought home an impressive array of industry awards from the recent IBC2009 show in Amsterdam. In conjunction with Marshall Electronics, Telecast’s TeleCube™ modular media interface received a STAR (Superior Technology Award Recipient) Award by the editorial staff of TV Technology Europe. In addition, the Telecast Rattler™ 3G miniature HD/SDI transmitter/receiver module was named a Pick Hit by Broadcast Engineering magazine, and both the TeleCube and Rattler 3G received an Editor’s Pick of IBC2009 award from TVBEurope magazine.
Designed to celebrate and showcase the preeminent technological innovations available to the broadcast industry, the STAR Award is given by the editor of TV Technology Europe to 25 products based on their technical application and overall contribution to the industry. The STAR award recognizes a new family of HD monitors from Marshall Electronics with direct fiber optic video input, which integrate the TeleCube HD/SDI transmission modules to deliver a broad range of digital rates while maintaining pristine signal quality.
The coveted Pick Hit is the longest-running technical awards program in the industry, and winners are chosen by Broadcast Engineering readers and working professionals in the broadcast, post, and network and satellite industries. Pick Hit winners are judged to have a positive impact on the intended user's everyday work, offer substantial improvement over previous technology, and feature a price point within the reach of the intended users. The Rattler 3G was chosen for a Pick Hit based on its ability to add unprecedented modular flexibility to widely used fiber optic transmitters and receivers, and its easy configuration of any type of device for 3Gbps optical or electrical input and/or output.
The TVBEurope Editor’s Pick of IBC2009 Award is given to the most innovative and clever new product introductions at IBC, with a focus on solutions that have clear potential to make money or save money for end users. Both launched at IBC2009, the Rattler 3G and TeleCube were each named an Editor’s Pick.
“Based on this industry recognition and the solid reception we received at IBC, it’s clear that the TeleCube and Rattler 3G have tapped into broadcasters’ critical need for products that offer a highly modular and flexible solution for on-the-fly configuration of input and output devices,” said Rich Cerny, president of Telecast Fiber Systems.
